Josep Gutiérrez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), as well as a Diploma and a Postgraduate degree in Technical and Applied Optics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). His academic career has been recognized with an accessit award in a research competition for opticians organized by the company INDO. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the UAB (since 2013), where he teaches in the Physics, Mathematics, Nanoscience, and Chemistry degree programs, as well as several Engineering degrees. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at the Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB-UPC) in the Department of Applied Physics. He collaborated extensively with the Thin Film Laboratory at the UAB Optics Group, providing technical expertise and support for the group's experimental research lines, specifically in the characterization of thin-film materials.  Josep balances his academic responsibilities with his work as a software developer. In this field, he specializes in parallel programming, cryptography, data access, and Machine Learning, creating strong synergies between theoretical physics and advanced computational solutions.
